Qualifications:
Cynthia Newcome is a practicing mediator with more than 20 years
experience as an environmental scientist and small business owner
in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Newcome is committed to the use of alternative
dispute resolution methods to provide a positive forum for disputing
parties to address their differences and together determine the best
mutual outcome. She mediates in Franklin County Municipal Court
Small Claims, Domestic Court and Eviction Court Divisions. She
currently serves in the Franklin County Courts Dispute Resolution
Program. Ms. Newcome has also completed training in Divorce
Mediation, Domestic Abuse, and the Juvenile Victims Offender Program
through Capital Law School and the Supreme Court of Ohio.
As an environmental scientist, Ms. Newcome is experienced in handling
disputes resulting from regulatory, compliance and oversight issues;
playing a support role in conflict resolution through negotiation,
litigation and public hearings. She has also worked to resolve conflicts
associated with the development and negotiation of contracts in both
the private and public sector.
As an owner of a small business Ms. Newcome has been involved in
workplace conflict resolution, as well as quality control and customer
service issues. She recently developed and implemented a Conflict
Management Training Program for Nationwide Insurance Corporation.
Ms. Newcome is a member of the Association of Conflict Resolution,
the Ohio Mediation Association, and an associate member of the Columbus
Bar Association.
She will graduate from the Capital
Law School Dispute Resolution Certificate Program in 2007 and has a B.S. in Environmental Science from Ohio State
University.
